CAT EYES is an ultra-smooth recording by Slidestream. Recorded in Zürich in 2000, the group consists of three trombones backed by piano, bass, and drums. Well-written arrangements featuring warm voicings and a variety of rhythmic grooves will satisfy the listener who seeks all-trombone, all the time. Trombone melodies, trombone solos, trombone section lines, and more trombone solos along with a secure rhythm section come together in this slick package. Danilo Moccia succeeds in bringing the spice of variety and surprise to this arrangements, overcoming the potential limitations inherent in having three trombones carry an entire recording. CAT EYES does a solid job as a stand alone CD from start to finish. Even though extremes are avoided at all times, solo playing is "in the pocket". Control, clarity and technical facility are always at the forefront. The result is a tight recording without any rough edges.
